UममEED is dedicated towards practising sustainable business in Metro & Metro, and bolstering our local communities.Our main area of intervention is education, health care and women empowerment.
When the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged the world in 2020, India was one of the worst affected countries. Along with the health problem, the lockdown caused a hunger and migratory crisis. It was during this time that Umeed was born.
Providing Transportation and Footwear:
Due to the national-lockdown we understood that the primary obstacle for stranded migrants was the lack of transportation options. To address this, we mobilised resources and arranged safe transportation facilities for those eager to reunite with their loved ones.
We recognized the plight of migrants walking barefoot for miles under scorching heat and provided a solution. As a three-generational shoe manufacturing company, we recognise the value of proper footwear in preventing injuries and discomfort, thereby we took on the responsibility of delivering 3000 pairs of shoes to migrants passing through Agra. This small act of kindness not only eased their physical suffering but also symbolised the care and compassion that Umeed embodies.
Supporting Local Communities
We went above and beyond to address the widespread hunger and food insecurity exacerbated by the pandemic, and extended our efforts to provide monthly rations to the most vulnerable households in local communities. On average,we are able to feed 50 households per month, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry.
